St. Wilfrids Primary School
Our Catholic ethos is central to our school and we became an academy as part of the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education trust in December 2020. In our Diocesan inspection (March 2018) we were graded as good in collective worship and religious education. Inspectors said ‘Catholic Life is outstanding. Governors, senior leaders and staff have high expectations and a shared vision with regard to the Catholic mission and ethos of the school. (Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle RE inspection March 2018.)
We have a highly skilled, supportive, friendly and dynamic team who are rapidly moving the school forward and improving outcomes for all of our pupils.
We are committed to developing staff in all roles and at all stages in their careers and we offer many training opportunities through external courses and in-house training with partner schools in Blyth, the Catholic Partnership in Northumberland and through our Catholic Education Trust and Diocese. We encourage staff to take the lead in areas which interest them and that will enhance our pupil’s development. We have STEM clubs, cookery clubs and a wide range of craft and sports activities. We have enthusiastic pupils and opportunities for pupil voice through School Council and Eco councils Buddies and School Sports Crew. We promote British Values through our extensive PHSE, SMSC and RE programmes.
St. Wilfrid’s is based in the Port of Blyth. We are a short walk from the beach and harbour and are involved in many local initiatives such as the carnival, the Port of Blyth STEM partnership and arts and performance opportunities through the Northumberland Catholic Partnership and Bishop Bewick CET.
