Norham High School was previously “Special Measures” and ranked 138 out of 138 secondary schools in the North East but has excelled in recent years. It is now expected to join the top 10 for Progress 8 following publication of performance tables in February 2024. Furthermore, we are officially the most improved school for Progress 8 in the whole of England when compared to pre-pandemic 2019 exam results, this is something that we and our community are incredibly proud of. All / every pupil group is positive for progress 8, including SEND and pupil premium and as stated, we are good in all areas.
Regardless of whether you are a pupil or staff member, our school offers exceptional support and opportunity to all. Our standards of behaviour and conduct are exceptional with pupils demonstrating manners and respect. In addition to this, we are perhaps one of the most inclusive schools offering one of the largest ARP’s in the North East and secure our performance despite having significant contextual factors including 35% SEND, 10% EHCP, 65% PP and 16% EAL. However, while some see these as barriers, we see opportunity… an opportunity to make a difference – do you?
Despite such figures, we excel in what we do and how we do it, we look for an exceptionally talented candidate to join our team. You must be committed and must demonstrate our schools values for yourself and the pupils you will serve, that is “Pride – Determination – Strength”.
Our candidate:
We are looking for a teacher who can quickly form strong professional relationships with pupils – these must be founded on mutual respect and you must be able to secure trust if you can do this while also being a dynamic and inspirational practitioner committed to all areas of school life, then we have a role for you.
Our school, our values, our family:
We believe that every child has the right to an excellent quality of education and an enriching experience – it is our role to support children, both academically and pastorally, so that they grow to be the very best version of themselves. At the heart of our school are our family values and collegiate approach; we support each other and invest in pupils and staff alike, providing a wealth of opportunities to all.
We have established a lovely working environment (in every way), and a personalised blend of welfare support that promotes a positive work-life balance – colleagues’ efforts are genuinely recognised and rewarded in unique ways.
Curriculum:
Our curriculum is broad, balanced and well sequenced / thought out supporting all pupils. For example, a number of pupils study Triple Science, Further Maths and languages, while a minority complete entry level or do not sit public exams at all, while this can undermine P8 scores, our bespoke approach to curriculum design offers multiple routes of progression that is highly personalised supporting pupils in achieving highly.
We are committed to improving life chances and we have a strong sense of social justice. In joining us, you too will enjoy both the challenge and reward of serving our community – all children deserve the best and we really are making a difference to children’s lives.
We welcome you to visit us:
We would welcome exceptional candidates to visit the school to meet our children and dedicated staff team; you will be provided with a tour and pupil / staff introductions so you can see our school in action. An informal discussion with the Headteacher via telephone to discuss the post further is also welcome.
