We are looking for a proactive Teaching Assistant to work within our support staff team. Central to the success of our school is a team that works hard for the students and each other. The successful applicant will be mainly based in the Learning Support Department.
Our last Ofsted report recognised the high expectations, strong leadership, great teaching and positive relationships that underpin the good progress made by our students. We will offer you a supportive network of colleagues and access to a Teaching Assistant qualification.
As our name implies, the school lies at the heart of its community. Belmont is a leafy suburb on the outskirts of Durham City. As a result of high expectations, enthusiastic teaching and very positive relationships, students enjoy school and want to do well.

Important information regarding term time payments.
Teaching Assistants are paid for their 40 working weeks, plus annual leave and public holiday entitlement in 12 equal monthly instalments.
| Employees with more than 5 years’ service | |
| 40 working weeks + 27 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) | 40 working weeks + 32 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) |
| TOTAL = 47 weeks’ pay | TOTAL = 48 weeks’ pay |
Standard term time only pay is calculated on the basis of the following:
Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks; plus
- Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus
- Individual leave entitlement – 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days)
Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service.
Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive 32 days annual leave.
For example:
Calculation for employees with less than 5 years’ service: 38 weeks (term time) + 27 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 45 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly installments.
Calculation for employees with more than 5 years’ service: 38 weeks (term time) + 32 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 46 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly installments.
