St Thomas More Catholic School is a co-educational Catholic Academy which provides for the education needs of 11-18 year old pupils from the west of Gateshead L.A. We are part of the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle and have a strong commitment to Catholic Education.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Teacher of History to join St Thomas More Catholic School. The successful candidate will be a strong classroom practitioner who has the ability to motivate young people of all abilities and will be able to work well as part of a busy and dedicated team. As a department we have a broad range of specialisms and interests, and prioritise inspiring the young people in our care to be passionate and enthusiastic historians. We have a strong emphasis on the teaching of disciplinary as well as substantive knowledge, to ensure that we develop analytical and curious learners. We are a very popular subject at GCSE and follow the OCR B specification. At A Level we also follow the OCR specification. The ideal candidate for this post will be willing to work alongside colleagues to reflect, create and critique teaching and learning provision with a focus on constantly raising standards.
