St Leonard’s Catholic School is a highly successful secondary school with sixth form located in the historic cathedral city of Durham. We have an exciting opportunity for a Sessional Rowing Coach to join our successful Boat Club. The working times are negotiable but it is expected coaching sessions will take place after school and on Saturday mornings.
The successful candidate will: –
- Provide exceptional coaching delivery to young people attending St Leonard’s Boat Club including on water rowing sessions, on-land erg sessions and strength and conditioning sessions.
- Support the day-to-day work of St Leonard’s Boat Club by complying with health and safety policies, promote rowing in the local community and act with the highest standards.
- Be able to engage with young people and act as a role model.
St Leonard’s was named as part of the national School’s Re-Building Programme and with plans in the advanced stages, work is due to start in autumn 2024. At present the school is split across two sites near one another. Our new temporary site; Our Lady of Help, opened earlier this year.
St Leonard’s is one of the highest achieving schools in the North-East and with a progress score of +0.64 in 2023, is for the second year running in the top 3 highest performing schools in the North-East’s 171 schools. As well as success at GCSE the school achieves equally impressive results at A Level and in a recent survey by The Times was named as the most successful school in the North-East for successful applications to Oxford and Cambridge.

Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust, formerly The Trinity Catholic Multi Academy Trust was set up on 1 February 2012. Cardinal Hume Catholic School, Gateshead was the first school in the trust.
Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust, is currently a family of 5 secondary schools and 21 primary schools from across Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham and Northumberland, in the west of the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle.
