Established in 2006, the Education Village Academy Trust (EVAT) is a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) of 5 – soon to be 6 – schools in Darlington.
Our Trust is founded on the principles of inclusivity, diversity and fairness and our mission is to deliver exceptional learning experiences and great outcomes for all the children and young people we serve. We stretch aspirations and aim to inspire everyone who learns and works with us to reach high and achieve their potential.
Our vision is simple: The Education Village Academy Trust is a place where learning has no limits.
We’re an ambitious Trust, with plans to grow and share our inclusive ethos with other like-minded schools and trusts. We’re looking for a dynamic and credible School Improvement Director to ensure we truly are a Trust where learning has no limits.
Working across all our schools and reporting directly to the Trust’s CEO, you will be responsible for defining, leading and evaluating the EVAT school improvement offer.
Skilled in working collaboratively with school leaders, staff and other partner organisations, you’ll guide and support the design and implementation of school improvement strategies, quality assurance, self-evaluation, curriculum development, pedagogy, assessment, continuous professional development, and preparing for inspection.
You will advise the CEO and Board of Trustees on all aspects of school improvement and play a major role in identifying, implementing and evaluating the strategic priorities of the Trust.
Whether a serving school or senior leader, full-time inspector, or a school improvement professional looking for a whole-Trust leadership role, what is clear is that you will have an exceptional track record of success, especially in relation to achieving positive outcomes for pupils regardless of background or prior attainment.
We’re further transforming the way we do things: investing in improving our teaching and learning offer, modernising our technology, and developing our people. This is a new and developmental role. With so much opportunity to make your mark as an experienced educational professional in a growing and aspirational Trust, now is a great time to join EVAT.
To apply for this role, either complete an application form or submit a CV to the People Team using PeopleTeam@educationvillage.org.uk. Please note that any CV must include two appropriate references and you will be required to complete the additional information / declaration form if shortlisted for interview.
Prospective candidates are welcome to request a visit and/or a confidential conversation with the CEO. To do so, please contact Steph Blake, Executive Support Officer, via email at sblake@educationvillage.org.uk.
Closing date: 11.59pm Sunday 15th October 2023
Interview Dates: w/c Monday 23rd October 2023

The Education Village Academy Trust
Established in 2006, we are a mixed Multi Academy Trust (MAT), bringing together mainstream and special schools and academies serving the borough of Darlington and neighbouring areas.
We are a village, and by building on our individual strengths, sharing our skills, and weaving each other’s ideas and perspectives into our practice, we are able to offer unique and enriched learning experiences.
We are proud to be part of a truly inclusive Trust. We firmly believe that fairness in opportunity and acceptance of individuality enhances understanding of the world, prepares pupils for the future, and creates young adults who value, appreciate and are able to make an active contribution to their communities.
