Newcastle High School for Girls, the North East’s leading independent girls’ day school, seeks to appoint two new members of our school transport team, to drive one of our fleet of school minibuses to deliver the school’s daily morning and afternoon transport services from Derwent Valley and Wearside. Ideally, we are looking for applications from anyone in the South Tyneside area, however, this is not an essential requirement and applicants from other locations will be considered. Some additional driving duties may be required on an ad hoc basis, but the core hours are a daily split shift during term time only.
Our minibus driving team works under the direction of the School Transport Manager to drive any of the school’s modern fleet of minibuses to transport pupils, staff and visitors as required. Our drivers work closely with the chaperone allocated to their daily service to provide a courteous, friendly service for our pupils and parents. Additionally, transport support for trips, sports fixtures and high-profile school events such as open days, fairs and parents’ evenings may be required from time to time. A category D or D1 (without restrictions) driving licence is advantageous but not essential at this point, further training to obtain this licence may be made available to the successful candidate.

Newcastle High School for Girls
Newcastle High School for Girls is one of the North East’s leading independent girls’ day schools. Founded in 2014 following the merger of two very long standing predecessor schools, NHSG is a state-of-the-art, modern school with a tradition and history stemming back almost 150 years.
We are an all through school (ages 3-18) with around 250 girls in the Junior School and 450 in the Senior School, including 150 in the Sixth Form, who, together with around 150 staff, make up a friendly and welcoming community.
The Junior and Senior Schools occupy their own separate campuses around a mile apart and the role will require working at both locations. Our two campuses are situated within the suburban, leafy, areas of Jesmond and Sandyford, both with excellent transport links to the Tyne & Wear Metro and bus services from across the region.
