Newcastle High School for Girls, the North East’s leading independent girls’ day school, seeks to appoint on a part-time, fixed term contract basis, a Medical and Wellbeing Officer, to provide high-quality medical care and first aid services to pupils in our all-through (3-18) setting. This role involves managing medical records and ensuring the smooth operation of medical facilities within the school. The successful candidate would be directly line managed by the Deputy Head, Pastoral and would liaise with different departments within the School regarding pupil health and welfare. We are looking for a Medical and Wellbeing Officer whose accountabilities would include:
- Oversight of first-aid provision, training and compliance
- Triage of pupil medical care needs, prior to onward referral
- Maintenance of medical pupil medical records and information
- Oversight of medical compliance with law, regulation and internal policy
- Liaison with external professionals, pupils and their parents in relation to pupil medical care plans and other agency support arrangements for pupils
- Membership of the Pastoral Leadership Group, offering healthcare input to pastoral support policies, plans and specific interventions
- Delivery of health and wellbeing elements of our PHSE programme
- Delivery of healthcare awareness training to school staff

Newcastle High School for Girls is one of the North East’s leading independent girls’ day schools. Founded in 2014 following the merger of two very long standing predecessor schools, NHSG is a state-of-the-art, modern school with a tradition and history stemming back almost 150 years.
