Laidlaw Schools Trust is delighted to be embarking on a new partnership with national charity MCR Pathways, to bring an innovative programme of mentoring to Secondary students at Excelsior Academy. The programme will establish the provision of one-to-one mentoring and group mentoring programmes in school via a highly successful programme already in place in parts of Scotland and England, but new to the North East.
As part of the programme, we are searching for a Programme Coordinator to lead this new initiative and deliver the mentoring programme. You will participate in national training and have the opportunity to bring new opportunities to our students at Excelsior Academy.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering the MCR Pathways programme to qualifying young people in the school modelling best practice.
- Building exceptional individual relationships with qualifying young people across Y7 to Y11
- Delivering group work to participating young people in Y7
- Helping to drive mentor recruitment
- Consistently supporting, actively engaging and motivating mentors from training through the length of their engagement with the programme.
- Actively support MCR young people to: identify their talent; build their self-confidence; develop their aspiration and fulfil their potential
- Collate evidence of young people’s progression quantitative data and qualitative evidence such as young people’s voice and case studies.
Excelsior Academy is the first all-through school in Newcastle, offering education to pupils from 3 to 19 years of age.
