We are seeking to appoint a motivated and resilient person to join our team of mentors, providing support and helping to improve outcomes for some of our most vulnerable students. Working alongside other mentors, teachers, pastoral staff and students is central to this role, and therefore the ability to build strong and positive relationships is essential, as is having a flexible and adaptable approach to working in a busy and demanding environment. The successful candidate will ideally have demonstrable experience in relating to and engaging constructively with young people from a wide range of social and ethnic backgrounds, as well as their families/carers.
If successful, you will have day-to-day responsibility for the administration and maintenance of the space where students who have been temporarily withdrawn from their lesson are supervised and supported, and will also carry out some of that supervision yourself. For the majority (i.e. more than half) of your time, however, you will be carrying out mentoring and therapeutic work with students, either 1 to 1 or in groups, working predominantly with students with SEMH needs. This would be an incredibly rewarding opportunity for the right candidate, as you will be working with some of our most vulnerable students and have the opportunity to make a real difference to their education and future.
We are really keen to appoint the right person to our school to support our students. The closing date is 9am on Friday 11th August 2023. If you have any questions or would like to arrange a visit to the College, email Assistant Headteacher, Caroline Stephen; caroline.stephen@churchillcc.org. Resources are available to download from our website www.churchillcommunitycollege.org. Completed applications should be returned to the Headteacher’s PA, via email: recruitment@churchillcc.org
Churchill Community College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. As such an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be required along with other relevant employment checks deemed appropriate.
