Governors are looking to appoint a Health Care and Educational Assistant from 17 April 2023 (or as soon as possible). Applications are sought from people who are committed, caring and resilient to support pupils with SEND, complex learning difficulties and associated medical needs.
The successful candidate will be assigned to work alongside a class team supporting pupils in all areas of their development. Some pupils may require moving and handling, intimate care and medical interventions and full training will be given..
The key responsibilities are:
Alongside other trained staff you will
• Support pupils’ health needs
• Assist where necessary with learners with feeding difficulties, including those with a gastrostomy
• Provide intimate care to meet pupils’ needs
• Work with teachers, teaching assistants and other professionals to provide effective support and care to pupils, tailoring support to the needs of the individual pupils if necessary
• Support small groups of children and individuals within the classroom and/externally to the main class as required
• Follow the schools policy and procedures for safeguarding, moving and handling and behaviour support including the use of restrictive physical intervention if necessary to keep children safe.
• Present oneself as a role model to pupils in speech, dress, behaviour and attitude
