Schools North East is looking to recruit a highly motivated Executive Assistant to join our small but very successful team.
We need a brilliant organiser who will keep the charity’s senior leaders focused on the strategic work by taking charge of the administrative load.
Schools North East is the first, and only, regional schools-led network in the UK.
From Redcar to Berwick, it spans 1,150 schools working together to support teachers, help young people get a great start, shape better communities and improve the outlook for future generations in the North East.

Together, we are a movement for change.You will work with and organise colleagues to ensure Directors can deal with the challenges of the significant recent growth in the scale, scope and complexity of Schools North East’s operations. You must be a self-starter, with experience of achieving challenging targets; a can-do attitude; and a strong interest in education within the North East.
The EA to Director is fundamental to the smooth running of the organisation and will be one-step ahead in co-ordinating diaries, managing high volumes of communications and understanding the nuances of stakeholder relations to enable directors to be tightly focused on delivering the charity’s strategy.
You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience of project management, and a track record of successfully supporting Directors at an executive level.
Responsibilities will typically include:
- Acting as a first point of contact, dealing with correspondence and phone calls;
- Managing diaries and organising meetings and appointments, often controlling access to the Director(s);
- Booking and arranging travel, transport and accommodation;
- Ensuring that Director participation in meetings and events is co-ordinated, organised and properly prepared for in advance;
- Monitoring the progress and Director completion of important tasks and deadlines;
- Compiling and preparing reports, presentations and correspondence;
- Minute taking;
- Implementing and maintaining procedures/administrative systems
- Liaising with staff, major stakeholders and partners;
- Coordinating team deadlines and ensuring deadlines are met;
- Miscellaneous tasks to support Directors;
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
You will be supported in this role by the wider Schools North East team, which includes a dedicated Events Manager, Relationship Manager, Marketing & Communications Officer and Business Manager.
