Queen Elizabeth High School is seeking to appoint an inspirational, motivated, and talented leader to lead English at the high school. The department has a longstanding reputation of producing excellent outcomes at key stage 4 with a P8 of 0.37 in Literature and of 0.19 in Language. At key stage 5 the average A Level grade was B+ in 2025. As a curriculum leader you would also work closely with subject leads across the partnership. We have well established relationships with our partner middle schools, working on seamless transition to high school.
The school is highly regarded in the region, appearing regularly as one of the Sunday Times’ Parent Power, top five schools in the north east. In the 2024 Ofsted inspection the school achieved good in all areas. The sixth form has also had the best A Level results in the north east for the last three years. The leadership of English is a pivotal role in the school, driving outcomes and ensuring consistently outstanding teaching across the department. Our curriculum leaders are integral to the creation and delivery of our CPD programme.
We are looking for someone with the ambition and potential to lead an experienced team of staff. Currently the CL is supported by two additional TLR holders. The role will provide an excellent opportunity for someone who is ambitious to move into senior leadership. As a school we invest in the development of staff through regular professional learning and are keen to give people the chance to grow as leaders.
