Churchill Community College is a large secondary school located in Wallsend. We are firmly committed to improving the outcomes for students in our care and as part of this drive we believe that high standards of behaviour are crucial. Churchill was inspected by Ofsted in 2019 as a ‘good’ school; previously the school had been judged ‘outstanding’, and whilst the judgement of ‘good’ was very fair we have the aspiration of ‘excellence in all we do’ and need the successful applicant to embrace this philosophy.
The Cover Supervisor team is a dedicated and professional group of individuals whose main responsibilities include supporting students engaged in learning activities to raise achievement, supervision of classes during the short-term absence of teachers, invigilation and department administrative support working within the Learning Support department.
This is an exciting opportunity for an inspiring, knowledgeable and experienced individual, and the position is available immediately. The overarching responsibility of the role is to ensure the good behaviour of our students and make sure they engage in their learning during short-term absence of teachers. Cover work will be supplied for you to use as a basis for the lessons and we will also determine your subject specialisms with you as a preference. Excellent interpersonal skills are required for this post as our successful candidates need to demonstrate that they can build good rapport with staff and students alike.
This role will suit someone with previous school experience, either as a learning support assistant, trained teacher, or a graduate who is looking to gain first-hand experience prior to applying for a teacher training course.
Please note that whilst previous experience within an education environment is desirable, full training will be provided for successful candidates.
This is a fixed term opportunity with the view to becoming permanent offering an actual salary of £18,959 per annum, based on 37 hours per week, Term Time plus 3 days of inset. The successful candidate will join us as soon as possible.

Churchill Community College
Churchill Community College is an 11-18yrs comprehensive school in North Tyneside.
Churchill is very much a community school, and whilst the community we serve is enormously proud and supportive of the school, a significant proportion of our students come from low income or deprived households, with more than 40% of our cohort eligible for the Pupil Premium.
We aim to make all our young people feel completely safe, secure, valued and appreciative of the many opportunities their education here can afford them.
We set high standards in all areas and expect the very best from all members of our learning community. In return, we aim to provide excellent teaching and up-to-date curriculum provision with high quality pastoral care and an outstanding range of opportunities beyond the classroom for all learners. We believe these are the hallmarks of a truly successful school.
