St Thomas More Primary School are proud to be part of the Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust, a family of secondary, middle, primary and first schools in Durham, Gateshead, Northumberland and Sunderland. Bishop Wilkinson is the largest catholic education trust in the North East of England and will have a total of 48 schools. This is an exciting time to join our supportive, and growing team.
We wish to appoint an outstanding Class Teacher. The role will start following the Summer Holidays and run for the period of maternity leave.
We are seeking an individual to:
- Provide effective and engaging instruction to students in accordance with the UK National Curriculum.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes the academic, social, and emotional development of each student.
- Plan and deliver well-structured lessons that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of the students.
- Assess and track students’ progress, using a variety of assessment methods, and provide timely and constructive feedback to support their learning.
- Prepare students for key assessments by implementing targeted teaching strategies.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and supportive educational experience for students.
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies to create a positive and respectful classroom atmosphere.
- Encourage and support the development of students’ independent thinking, problem-solving skills, and a love for learning.
- Stay informed about educational trends, pedagogy, and relevant curriculum updates to continuously enhance teaching practices.
- Attend professional development opportunities and engage in reflective practices to improve teaching effectiveness and contribute to the school’s overall success.
The successful candidate will have:
- A qualified teacher status.
- Evidence of planning and teaching effective lessons and learning activities across the relevant curriculum, age and ability ranges including personalising learning to meet individual needs.
- Evidence of applying up-to-date working knowledge and understanding of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies in practice
- Good curriculum knowledge.
- Ability to relate to all students and be sensitive to their different needs / self-esteem.
- Ability to inspire and motivate others.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.

- Compliance with health and safety policies, rules and regulations.

Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust, formerly The Trinity Catholic Multi Academy Trust was set up on 1 February 2012. Cardinal Hume Catholic School, Gateshead was the first school in the trust.
Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust, is currently a family of 5 secondary schools and 21 primary schools from across Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham and Northumberland, in the west of the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. The Trust is expanding rapidly and will reach a total of 48 schools by Summer 2022.
