RGS Own Scale
BIOLOGY TEACHER – PART-TIME (0.6)
FROM SEPTEMBER 2021
We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified teacher of Biology to join our dynamic and successful Biology Department. You will be capable of teaching from Y7 through to A level, inspiring our students with a love of the subject and possessing a willingness to take them well beyond the scope of the syllabus. There will be opportunities to work with students applying for top universities as well.
Being ‘willing to go the extra mile’ is a major part of the role for all teachers at the RGS, not merely in specialist activities, but in a huge range of extra-curricular sporting, artistic and cultural work. We are keen to invite applications from those who would like to make their own distinctive contribution to this ethos. We very much value colleagues who are willing to contribute to our extra-curricular programme. An ability to contribute to other sciences might also be desirable.
The RGS has its own salary scale (which is above national pay scales for teachers) and provides NQTs with an appropriate programme of induction leading to QTS.

Royal Grammar School
Newcastle upon Tyne Royal Grammar School is a leading independent day school for boys and girls aged 7 -18 years. Located on Eskdale Terrace in Jesmond, in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, the school benefits from excellent transport links and students travel to RGS from all over the region. RGS is a thriving place, with over 1200 students on the current school roll, more than 250 of whom are in the Junior School, which shares the same site as the Senior School. Our Sixth Form of more than 340 students is one of the largest in the independent sector. The school became fully co-educational in 2008 and now girls make up over a third of the student population at RGS.
RGS is a special place, known and respected throughout the whole country as well as the North East. It’s a place where aspirations are high, results are outstanding and opportunities are endless. High expectation is the norm and our students go on to study highly selective courses at the most sought-after universities, but also leave the school realising that life outside the classroom has been equally beneficial.Visit School Website
