Breakfast/After School Club Assistant, Part Time – Term Time only
Morpeth, Stobhillgate First School is looking to appoint a Breakfast/After School Club Assistant to help run our well-established, thriving wrap around care. The post is to commence as soon as possible.
Stobhillgate First School is part of the Cheviot Learning Trust which allows us to work in collaboration with Trust partners to further improve teaching and learning, school systems and governance. This provides an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to work in collaboration and partnership with a broader range of practitioners.
The candidate will enjoy working with children, providing a welcoming, fun and stimulating environment, as well as a simple breakfast and afternoon snack Monday to Fridays. We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring individual who will be closely supported by our existing staff and who will continue to develop this successful facility provided by the school.
Job Requirements:
• To work within the agreed policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for children, staff and others. This includes the participation in regular fire drills.
• To assist in delivering care & play opportunities appropriate to needs, interests & developmental stage of each individual child. These must also meet EYFS outcomes and fit within the guidance of school policies and procedures.
• To liaise with members, children & parents & be involved with the planning of activities & snacks to be provided.
• To provide support and supervision as appropriate to the children’s needs.
• To assist the after school leader to ensure that refreshments are provided that meet the required standards of hygiene, health and safety.
• To help set up and tidy away the after school club resources as required. To ensure all toys and equipment are clean and safe.
• To encourage parental involvement and support for the club. To exchange information regularly re. activities and child’s progress.
• To advise the club leader of any concerns e.g. over children, child protection, parents/carers or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality etc. as necessary.
• To maintain complete confidentiality regarding any information gained within the job role. This includes information about the children, their families or other staff.
• To attend staff meetings and undertake statutory training as required and additional training as agreed to ensure best practice is maintained.
• To undertake any other reasonable duties as specified by the after school club leader in accordance with the after school business plan/objectives.
The Right Candidate Will Have:
• A recognised level 2 or above childcare/playworker qualification or willingness to attain.
• A satisfactory Enhanced DBS check which confirms suitability to work with children.
• Experience working with children in a childcare setting.
• Ability to work as part of a team & on own initiative.
• Good customer awareness.
• Ability to prioritise and be adaptable in approach.
• The ability to create and maintain a stimulating and enjoyable environment.
• Patience and a sense of humour.
• The ability to understand & maintain confidentiality.
• A commitment to young children and families.
• A commitment to the provision of a high quality service and achieving customer satisfaction.
