Dear Candidate,
Thank you for your interest in the posts of Teaching Assistant Level 3 within Rise Carr College. I’m delighted to have the opportunity to share some information about our school, as well as some detailed information about the post.
Overview
Rise Carr College is a Local Authority maintained Pupil Referral Unit and Alternative Provision which serves the eight secondary schools in Darlington. Home and Hospital Teaching Service, another Local Authority service, is co-located within the building and Clifton House is a further provision based on the Hummersknott Academy site. Clifton House is a part-time provision for children in Years 5-8 to support transition to secondary school.
In addition to this, in September 2021 we opened Eldon House, an additionally resourced centre for children with Education, Health and Care Plans with a primary need of Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties. The new centre is based in a brand new stand-alone building on the same site as Rise Carr College on Eldon Street in Darlington.
The centre will cater for 15 students across the secondary age range, split into Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 provision.
The Posts (Please see attached document for the full job description and person specification)
The posts are required from September 2023.
One post is based in Rise Carr College and one post is based in Eldon House, however, you may be required to work at any of our sites to meet the needs of the students in all of our centres.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, creative and inspiring teaching assistant who is passionate about learning and committed to nurturing the emotional wellbeing of children.
The school has adopted an inclusive, integrated approach to curriculum and so we are looking for someone that can support the academic subjects, but also with a creative flair and enjoys a hands on approach to learning.
We are looking for individuals who:
- Have experience of delivering interventions focused on behaviour and social and emotional wellbeing.
- Have very good classroom organisation and very strong behaviour management skills.
- Are adaptable and reflective practitioners who have lots of experience of working with children with SEMH and additional needs.
- Are passionate about developing strong, working relationships with children, parents/carers and the school community.
- Have worked within a multi-agency approach and have a good understanding of working within a team.
- Are resilient and self-motivated
In our school we are committed to providing outstanding education in the broadest sense, prioritising the development of successful learners, increasing progress to ensure that all learners reach their full potential and to extend and ensure the development of ‘the whole child’.
Interviews will be held on the morning of Monday 17th July 2023.
Please contact myself for a further informal discussion on either post via email:
