Great Expectations Day Nursery is looking for a highly organised, capable and friendly Administrator / Receptionist to join our busy nursery team.
This is a varied, hands-on role and would suit someone who enjoys being busy, is confident dealing with people and can keep on top of several things at once.
The morning drop-off period is one of the busiest times of the nursery day, so you will play an important part in making sure children, parents, visitors and telephone enquiries are dealt with efficiently and professionally, whilst also providing general administrative support to the Nursery Manager and wider team.
The role will include:
- Providing a welcoming and professional reception service
- Helping manage the busy morning drop-off period
- Dealing with parents, visitors and general enquiries
- Answering telephone calls and taking or passing on messages
- Responding to routine emails and correspondence
- Maintaining nursery records and administrative systems
- Filing, scanning, photocopying and general office administration
- Assisting with attendance and other day-to-day nursery records
- Supporting the Nursery Manager and staff with administrative tasks
- Helping ensure information and paperwork is accurate and kept up to date
- Dealing with confidential information appropriately

The person we are looking for
We are looking for someone who is switched on, highly organised and able to use their own initiative.
You should be:
- Confident, friendly and professional
- An excellent organiser with good attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a busy environment
- Able to prioritise and deal with several tasks at the same time
- Confident speaking to parents and other members of the public
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable using computers, email and standard office software
- Able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
- Discreet and trustworthy when dealing with confidential information
- Willing to get involved and help wherever needed
Previous administrative or reception experience would be an advantage. Experience of working in a nursery, school, childcare setting or other busy customer-facing environment would also be useful, but is not essential for the right person.
You do not need to be a qualified nursery practitioner. We are primarily looking for someone with the right administrative ability, personality, organisation and common sense to become a reliable part of our team.
Hours
The position is for 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only. There may be some flexibility in the exact hours for the right candidate.
Salary will be discussed depending upon experience and the agreed working arrangements.
As the role involves working within a nursery environment, the successful applicant will be required to undertake the appropriate pre-employment and safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check.
If you are organised, energetic, approachable and enjoy being at the centre of a busy working environment, we would be pleased to hear from you.
