The Department
This is an exciting opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic Teacher of Art. Due to the retirement of the current post holder, we are looking for a strong Fine Art graduate to fulfil the responsibilities of delivering the Fine Art curriculum and taking some responsibilities for Graphic Design within the department. The post will require someone with a passion for Art and Design and teaching; inspiring the students to develop skills and understand the positive role of Art and Design within their academic portfolio. The department is built around the importance of Art within the curriculum and the impact good Art teaching can have on every student; creating exciting, inclusive and challenging projects to push the skills of our students.
The post will require teaching in all Key Stages from three to five in both Fine Art and Graphics. Experience teaching Fine Art is essential to maintain the high standard of work we enjoy from our students. There are two members of staff within the Art and Design department and a part time technician. We are very proud to offer a wide range of Art disciplines from Year 7 to Year 13, including Fine Art, Graphics, Textiles and Photography.
We also use our extensive extra- curricular program to supplement the skills of the students; running weekly clubs including Art, Textiles, Photography, Art History and Graphics clubs. The applicant must be prepared to accept responsibility for some of these clubs on appointment.
Facilities
The Art and Design Department is located in bright, purpose built studios overlooking the nature reserve which provides a pleasant and stimulating environment. There is a specialised Textiles suite, Graphics Suite with computers and construction machinery and a Fine Art studio on the top floor with exceptional natural light. Each room is equipped with excellent facilities and equipment to ensure and
promote research, visual experimentation, practical exploration and display.
Qualities
We are looking for a dynamic, innovative and forward thinking candidate with excellent skills to join our vibrant department. The students are enthusiastic, hardworking and ready for challenge which we intend to foster and develop. We have a good uptake at all specialisms which need a passionate and flexible teacher to adapt to the needs of each student. Good organisation is essential to keep up with the demands of the role. The successful candidate with have the responsibility for maintaining the studio, providing exciting displays and managing equipment.
